Cynthia Kincaid, 69, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at Aperion in Vincennes, IN, after a long health decline with dementia. Born on October 4, 1955, in Robinson, IL, Cynthia was the cherished third child of Ivo Gene "Sterling" and Virginia (Starwalt) Hayden, and a proud 1973 graduate of Robinson High School. On December 30, 1984, Cynthia married Roscoe Paul Kincaid, beginning a lifelong journey filled with love, laughter, and countless shared memories.
Throughout her varied career, she embraced every chapter with unwavering compassion. After dedicating years to caring for her beloved son and a client dear to her heart, she concluded her professional life at D.O.R.S. in 2020—a true testament to the selflessness that defined her.
Known for her sarcastic wit and sassy charm, Cynthia delighted in life's simple pleasures. She treasured long conversations with her sister Roxanna, joyful gatherings with family and friends, and engaging in hobbies like bunco, league bowling, stamping, and various crafts. A devoted movie lover, she enjoyed everything from chick flicks and Hallmark features to early episodes of Perry Mason and timeless classics like Andy Griffith. Even as dementia began to dim her memories, the caring staff at her favorite restaurant, Yen Ching, always remembered her preferences—a touching reminder of the impact she had on those around her.
A long-time member of the Outer West Market Church of Christ, Cynthia found both solace and community in her faith.
She leaves behind a loving legacy carried forward by her daughter Heather (Brad) Atchison of Olney, IL; her brother William "Bill" (Donna) Hayden of Oklahoma; her sister Roxanna (David) Sirek of Minnesota; her brother Jeff Hayden of Oklahoma; her brother-in-law Greg (DeAnn) Kincaid of Palestine, IL; five nephews and one niece; her dear friend DeEtta Hobbs; and her stepchildren, Troy (Geline) Kincaid, Tammy (Donnie) Paddick, and Troy (Geline) Kincaid along with their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivo Gene "Sterling" and Virginia Hayden; her husband, Roscoe Paul Kincaid; her son, Eric Scott Kincaid; and her parents-in-law, Graydon and Patricia Kincaid.
Cynthia's legacy is one of enduring love, boundless humor, and deep compassion—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Palestine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her memorial fund, with checks payable to "Goodwine Funeral Homes," with envelopes available at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, which is handling the arrangements.
