Charles "Dean" Simons

Charles €œDean€ Simons, 86 of Robinson, IL, died at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong on Sunday, March 13, 2011. He was born December 13, 1924 in Robinson, the son of Charles Simons and Lillie Herr Simons. He had been employed by Marathon Oil Co in the Maintenance Department for 34 years when he retired in 1983. He was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church, served in the U. S. Air Force in Europe during WWII, and was a former chairman of the Robinson 4th of July Celebration Committee.Dean married Rhea Alyce Walters on September 13, 1947 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Matt Curtis, Maryland Heights, MO; 3 grandchildren, Alyce Leytham, Kansas City, MO, Dionne Minner, Florissant, MO, and Matthew Curtis, Florissant, MO; 7 great grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat Simons, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, Cynthia Lou Simons, and his brother, William Simons.Funeral services will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16th with Rev. Max Borah is in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Robinson First United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
