Byrl Thompson

Byrl Thompson, 78 of Robinson, IL, died at 11:50 a.m. (E.S.T.) on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born May 19, 1933 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Walter Thompson & Bess Bright Thompson. Byrl was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was also an electrician, and retired from Marathon Oil Company.Byrl married Barbara Elaine Brooks on April 7, 1956 and she preceded him in death on October 25, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brad Thompson in 1984; six brothers: Gene, Harold, Howard, Charles, John, and Richard Thompson; and one sister, Shelene Carlson.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doug & Cindy Thompson (Auburn, IN); his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy & Steve Conrad (Robinson, IL); 4 grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam) Parkison (Avilla, IN), Kyle Conrad (Robinson, IL), Kurtis Conrad (Chicago, IL) and Karlie Conrad (Robinson, IL); two sisters, Bernice Mundhenk (Robinson, IL) and Elizabeth Clutts (Lawrenceville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12th at the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL, with Reverend Ron Riggs officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
