Byrl D. Dunlap

Byrl D. Dunlap, 89, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born June 16, 1925 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Thomas & Sarah (Lowrance) Dunlap. Byrl served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Back stateside, he worked for Hutton’s Part Store for 26 years. After working for Hutton’s, he worked construction as a member of the local labor union. In his free time, he enjoyed coon hunting when he was younger, and also enjoyed camping and watching westerns. He will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, for his love of all things trade-related, his incredible work ethic, and the love he had for his family. He was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion and the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549.

Byrl married the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Betty Richards on January 15, 1947, and she survives. He is also survived by his children & their spouses, Marilyn Rego, Gary “Mike” & Rheta Dunlap, Cheryl & David Rodrick, Darla & Joe Boehl, and Mark & Tanya Dunlap; 15 grandchildren, Alan & Shannon Dunlap, Kathy & Jason Ketner, Travis & Livia Houser, Angel & Dustin Dillery, Devin Wesley, Jessica & Josh Butcher, Miranda & Kyle Miller, Sarah & Michael Culter, Joshua Rodrick, Jedidiah Rego, Jacob Brooks, Caleb & Tabitha Rego, Kaylee & Allen Warren, Keysha Dunlap, and Matthew Brooks; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charlie, Virgil, Lloyd, Thomas, Clarence, Joe, Frankie, and Jesse, and a brother in infancy; his sisters, Elizabeth, Ada, and Wanda; as well as his sons-in-law, Timothy Brooks and Archie Rego

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20th at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Alumbaugh officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
