Ben Buchanan, 56, of Robinson, IL, died at 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018. He was born May 26, 1962 alongside his twin brother, Bruce, the sons of James A. Buchanan & Janice (Sheppard) Buchanan, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Lori (Cornwell) on October 18, 2006, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Christopher Buchanan & Danielle Ireland (Robinson, IL) and Justin & Elizabeth Buchanan (San Antonio, TX); by his step-daughter, Angela Rodgers (Robinson, IL); by his grandson, Owen Rodgers (Robinson, IL); by his siblings & their spouses, Kevin & Carla Buchanan (Denver, CO), Phillip Buchanan (Davenport, FL), Dortha Turner (Tucson, AZ), Paul & Alesia Buchanan (San Diego, CA), Tom & Kyra Buchanan (Robinson, IL), and Bruce Buchanan (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Janice Buchanan; by his first wife, Mindy Buchanan; and by his daughters, Rachael Buchanan and Jennifer Buchanan. Ben grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1981 graduate of Robinson High School. He was a longtime painter with Fuson Automotive in Terre Haute, IN, and over the course of his career, he had the opportunity to paint Howard Hughes’ jet, a number of NASCAR stock cars, among other notable vehicles. Outside of work, Ben loved to travel, especially down the east coast, and met so many interesting people along the way. For a time, he lived in Florida, where he could often be found walking his dog, Isabell along the beach. No matter where he was, you better believe he was rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Ben was a very proud, but loving man and left his mark on all who knew him. A private family graveside service will be held, with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson in charge of arrangements.
